![]() SHOW DATES: April 13, 14, 20 7 p.m. nightly April 22 2 p.m. At the BridgePointe Hotel & Marina, New Bern, NC Order your tickets | "MURDER IN 3-D!" Hollywood can be murder... The famous directing Brothers, Roger and Braxton Boomer, believe they finally have a new hit on their hands—a 3-D romance that is suspiciously similar to a Nicholas Sparks novel (but don’t tell them that). Roger, the outgoing Boomer Brother, has invited a famous producer, a billionaire known for his Hollywood support, and an A-List actress on hard times after her involvement with the movie disaster, “Jane Eyre Among the Ewoks.” These, and a party-crashing videographer, all hope to get in on the Boomers’ money-making magic. But all does not go well when Roger’s brother is found dead: a revenge-minded Roger is determined to find which of his guests did Braxton in! This is the plotline to “Murder in 3-D,” the next Athens of the South Production’s comic mystery theaters, slated for April 13, 14, and 20 at 7 p.m., as a dinner theatre, and April 22 at 2 p.m. as a dessert-style matinee. “There’s all kinds of twists and turns in this plot,” playwright and director Bill Hand noted. “Movie fans will have lots of references to play with, from the Coen brothers and the Muppets to Star Wars. And, of course, you just can’t do a Hollywood spoof in New Bern without a few lines honoring our favorite son, Mr. Sparks. The cast features New Bernians Lawrence Davidson as Roger Boomer; Beth Gosnell as the Boomers’ sidekick and gofur Connie Cormorant; Bill Hand as the producer Boulder Jones; Paul Switzer as the billionaire; and Hope Buchner as the starlet Gloria Fanjoy. Actor Tim Nozsek (playing cameraman Mannie Morelli) is from Havelock. “It’s a great cast,” Hand said, “I really look forward to this show.” Tickets are $30 for dinner and show (April 13, 14 and 20) and $15 for show only (popcorn is included for show-only tickets!); and $20 for the April 22 2 p.m. matinee (when a dessert will be provided). A discount of $5 is available for groups of ten or more, for students under 16, senior citizens and active military. You can purchase tickets HERE, by phone (252-229-4977) or through the Bank of the Arts at 317 Middle Street in New Bern! Meet Our Suspects...
